Lesson 2: Navigating Blackboard

Introduction

Now it's time to learn how to get around Blackboard! This lesson demonstrates how to navigate to important course information, announcements, and grades; how to use the breadcrumb menu; how to check your assignments; and how to navigate to your group Web page.

Learning Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to do the following:

• Navigate to the announcements, course information, and grades.
• Check your assignments and use the breadcrumb menu to navigate to a previous pages.
• Navigate to your group Web page.

2.1: Locate Announcements, Course Information, and Grades

This demonstration shows you how to navigate to important course information, such as the course syllabus and schedule; the announcements section where your instructor posts recent course announcements; and the grades section where you can track your progress.

2.2: Check Assignments and Use the Breadcrumb Menu

This tutorial shows you how to check your course assignments and navigate to pages using the breadcrumb menu.

2.3: Navigate to Your Group Web Page

This demonstration shows you how to navigate to your group's Web page where you'll find the group discussion board, chat room, file exchange, and e-mail features.

Test Your Knowledge

Task 1: Complete the Phrase

1. Navigate to the syllabus and locate the second word of paragraph one.
2. Navigate to the announcements and locate the third word of the second announcement.
3. Navigate to the grades section and locate the first word of the fourth assignment.
4. Navigate to the assignments section and download the assignment. Insert the three words you located into the assignment.

Task 2: Locate Your Group Members

1. Navigate to your group Web page and locate the names of your group members.
2. Include these names on the downloaded assignment.
3. Submit your completed assignment via e-mail to your instructor.
